Marine Animals

Our marine animal medicine program is a dedicated group of faculty and staff that provide health assessments, diagnostic services, and treatments for marine animals such as sea turtles, dolphins, sea lions, and whales. This field addresses unique challenges related to aquatic environments, including pollution, human-animal interactions, and ever-changing water quality conditions. It encompasses preventive care, disease management, rehabilitation, and research on infectious diseases, toxicology, and nutrition specific to marine species. Our veterinarians work in collaboration with conservation programs and wildlife rescue organizations to ensure the welfare of these animals and to monitor emerging threats such as pollution and zoonotic disease transmission.
