Neuroscience

In veterinary medicine, neuroscience is the study of the structure, function, and disorders of the nervous system in animals, including the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. This field encompasses understanding how neural processes control behavior, movement, sensation, and physiological regulation in different species. Veterinary neuroscience is critical for diagnosing and treating neurological conditions such as epilepsy, neuropathies, spinal injuries, and neurodegenerative diseases. It also informs pain management, anesthesia protocols, and research into animal cognition and welfare. By integrating neurobiology with clinical practice, veterinarians can improve both the health and quality of life of animals.
