Several Mississippi State CVM students recently attended the national Student American Veterinary Medical Association (SAVMA) annual symposium hosted by North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C.

Created in 1969 as the national organization for veterinary students, SAVMA is the umbrella organization for all the student organizations and clubs in the CVM. More than 94 percent of MSU CVM students are members. The annual conference is the premier educational and networking event for veterinary students, focusing on professional development, leadership training and hands-on wet labs.

“We had a great time,” said Kayla Bradley, MSU SAVMA President, Class of 2028 at the CVM. “Our goal is to represent our student body by navigating issues and representing them on the delegate side and the presidential side. Getting the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with students from other institutions was a tremendous experience.”

Currently, SAVMA is comprised of 39 student chapters and one associate organization, representing a total of over 20,000 veterinary student members.
