CVM Welcomes 2026 Alumni Fellow Rebekah List Back to Campus

Dr. Rebekah List, the 2026 Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Fellow, returned to the college on Friday, Oct. 23, as part of the university-wide celebration of alumni honorees.

“I’m incredibly honored to be selected as the Alumni Fellow for the College of Veterinary Medicine,” List said. “This university, from when I was in undergrad to vet school, has always been such a strong foundation for me both personally and professionally. It’s always home.”

List enjoyed a breakfast at the MSU CVM before giving a presentation, “Curiosity Didn’t Kill the Cat, It Built My Career,” to the student body. Her talk focused on the ways in which her career evolved over the years and the lessons she learned along the way.

“My happiest place is when I’m back on campus and when I’m getting to talk to students,” List explained. “I’m in an area where they energize me. I love setting them up for success for when they graduate or helping make connections for them all over the country.”

List currently serves as the Director of Veterinary Professional Affairs for Mexico, Central and South America at Hill’s Pet Nutrition, where she connects clinical veterinary medicine, academic partnerships and corporate strategy.

“Very quickly, I learned that what I was super passionate about was students,” List said when discussing her career. “I was incredibly lucky in that I was given the opportunity to create a solely academic-focused veterinary team with Hill’s Pet Nutrition.”

List received her bachelor’s degree in animal and dairy science in 1998 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2001, both from Mississippi State. In her roughly 25-year career, she has held roles in practice ownership, emergency veterinary medicine, academic affairs leadership and global veterinary social media, managing teams across 19 international regions. In addition, she serves on various academic advisory boards and is often recognized for her innovation, leadership and impact.
