Research Awards Given to CVM Interns and Residents

The Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine announced the recipients of the three research awards supported by the Nutramax® Laboratories Veterinary Sciences Clinical Research Fund. The awards provide support to CVM residents and interns who are advancing veterinary medicine through innovative, impactful research. These competitive research awards are selected and awarded through the internal house officer grant program in the college’s Office of Research and Graduate Studies.

The awardees are resident Dr. Madison Tryzbiak; intern Dr. Maria Ilbáñez Vilanova, and intern Dr. Jenna Sanossian.

Tryzbiak, supervised by Associate Clinical Professor Dr. Alyssa Sullivant, received a $5,000 award to establish a reference interval for C-reactive protein in canine bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. Ilbáñez Vilanova, supervised by Assistant Clinical Professor Dr. Jaqueline Peraza, received $4,111 to study aqueous humor penetration of a compounded one-percent tacrolimus ophthalmic suspension in healthy dogs. Sanossian, supervised by Assistant Clinical Professor Dr. Sarah Castaldo, received $5,000 to support the investigation of an ex vivo comparison of bursting pressures between one-layer and two-layer gastrotomy closures in the canine stomach.
